Credit Controller

Job Title: CREDIT CONTROLLER

THE ROLE

• Billing & Invoicing - Raise accurate invoices against contracts, LPOs, GRNs and certified claims; issue tax invoices/credit notes via eTIMS with 100% transmission; ensure no completed work goes unbilled.
• Credit Control & Collections - Own the debtors' age analysis, drive collections against monthly targets, chase overdue accounts, escalate via a dunning process, and chair debtor review meetings with Sales/Projects/Operations.
• Credit Risk Management - Onboard new customers (KYC, credit applications, PIN verification), recommend credit limits and terms, monitor exposure, and flag breaches before further supply.
• Customer Accounts, Reconciliation & Reporting - Allocate receipts, reconcile accounts monthly, manage retentions, and report on debtors, DSO and collections.
• Deputizing for the Head of Finance - Stand in during absence: approve transactions, support month-end close, manage cash flow forecasting, and oversee statutory compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education/Qualification - Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Accounting/Finance, plus CPA(K) or ACCA qualified (strong finalists considered with exceptional experience).
• Experience - 5-7 years in accounts receivable/credit control, including at least 2 years at senior/supervisory level, with broader finance exposure (close, reporting, cash flow, compliance).
• Tax Compliance Knowledge - Practical knowledge of Kenyan tax rules: VAT, eTIMS, withholding VAT/tax, iTax filing, and working awareness of PAYE.
• Technical/Systems Skills - Strong ERP/accounting system experience (Sage, SAP B1, Dynamics, Odoo or QuickBooks) and advanced Excel.
